Information is key and our top priority is your ease of access. We have you covered with wireless access available campus-wide.
Get connected and get moving. Choose from our range of available connectivity options and you’ll have instant wireless access no matter where you are on campus.
Wireless Internet Access
UWS is your main connection to the university wireless service on campus. Connect with your CCID and you'll have instant Internet access no matter where you are on campus.
Connect to our free wireless network that allows anyone passing through campus access to the Internet. Check email, participate in conferences or simply browse the web.
VPNs allow you to connect to resources on campus through a remote connection. So whether you're travelling or at home, connect to campus as if you never left.
Off Campus Access (VPN)
A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, is a technology that permits campus users to securely and safely transmit any kind of network traffic down a tunnel to a remote location. This will allow users who are not on campus the ability to access campus computing resources—such as direct access to library databases and departmental resources—remotely.
VPNs are used in situations when users are off campus and require secure access to specific campus resources. A VPN allows for a secure connection that ensures data and credentials stay safe. If users are travelling, located abroad or have restricted access to web applications, we recommend using a VPN.
With Networking Standards, contractors can plan renovation and construction jobs accordingly. Find information on wireless networking standards and cabling standards for telecommunications at the University of Alberta.
