Coordination is Key

As one of IST’s project coordinators, Victor Dong recently worked on the Shared Data Centre Infrastructure project, the goal of which is to create a shared services environment, “mostly for administrative functions”, with other post-secondary institutions and K-12 schools throughout Alberta. Currently, Victor is implementing Software-as-a-Service solutions for various faculties within the University.

These projects have been cooperative efforts and have required Victor’s skill in coordinating “our teams, the client, and external parties”. The benefits of such coordination in the Infrastructure project are multiple, including the University’s larger storage capacity for equipment and data, stronger security, and reducing costs. Likewise, the coordination of the University’s internal teams and external vendors on the Software-as-a-Service projects enables the University “to meet the growing demand of faculties [for] applications and solutions”.

Victor’s role is key in these projects as he makes sure “all the steps are properly followed and the right teams are involved”.
