Change change

Multiple servers will undergo routine maintenance and receive security updates performed by Information Services and Technology (IST). During the change, users will be unable to reach the services listed below. The service outage is expected to last 3 hours.  

  • My CCID Portal which allows users to change their passwords
  • The CCID ToolBox that provides administrative services for the CCID interface
  • OnTheHub UA Software Distribution Service that provides software downloads
  • The Information Services and Technology (IST) Website
  • The Learning Shop which lists learning opportunities for all Academic and Support Staff across the University of Alberta
  • The Central Login Service, also known as GPU (General Purpose Unix)
  • UAOpenCart, a financial application which offers services to Clients for External Business Transactions.

The Enterprise Documents and Records Management System (EDRMS) will undergo routine maintenance. Users will not be able to access this service during the change window. The service outage period will be from 22:00pm to 1:00am.

Service Change: Andrew File System (AFS) University wide All users of the Andrew File System - 2017/11/08 - 15:00

Change change

The Andrew File System (AFS) file service’s servers will be taken off-line for security updates. AFS users will be unable to access their file space during the updates. The service outage is expected to last for up to 5 hours.

Service Change: Airwatch University wide Mobile Device Users - 2017/10/25 - 03:29

Change change

Emergency maintenance will be performed on the AirWatch CN628 environment, the Mobile Device Management application . The service will be unavailable for approximately 120 minutes at any time during the four hour change window.

During this time frame, AirWatch users can expect the following:

  • New device users will not be able to enroll
  • Existing device users will not be able to access the VMware AirWatch® App Catalog or Self Service portal
  • Existing content in VMware AirWatch® Content Locker™ will continue to be accessible, however, new content will not be available

Service Outage: IT Services North Campus Some Users - 2017/10/17 - 17:10

Outage resolution

Start: 2017/10/17 17:10 - Monitoring systems detected a power outage on parts on North Campus including College Plaza, Campus Tower & Education South that was affecting all IT services. EPCOR began investigating.
2017/10/17 19:00 - Monitoring systems reported IT services in Campus Tower were restored. 
2017/10/18 04:00 - Power was completely restored by EPCOR, however some IST managed devices were still offline in areas only accessible during business hours.
End: 2017/10/18 10:00 - All remaining devices affected by the power outage have been brought back online and IT services were confirmed restored.

Start: 2017/10/17 13:50 - IST began investigating reports of classroom podium workstations at Enterprise Square that were unable to load Operating System (OS) images.

The specific locations known to have been impacted were:

  • 2-590G
  • 2-520A
  • 2-650L
  • L-113
  • L-134
  • L-046

Service Degradation: Sitecore Websites - 2017/10/11 - 14:00

Degradation resolution

Start: 2017/10/11 14:00 - Clients were reporting intermittent errors when accessing or editing websites hosted by Sitecore. University Digital Strategy (UDS) support teams began investigating.
2017/10/11 17:00 - Further investigation determined an automated process had failed, manually forcing the process was successful and service was restored. Monitoring began to see if any issues reoccurred.

Service Outage: Travel Expense Claims, SupplyNet & eTrac - 2017/10/03 - 10:35

Outage resolution

Start: 2017/10/03 10:35 - Clients that use PeopleSoft Financials & SupplyNet began reporting they had lost access to the following areas:

  • Travel & Expense Claims 
  • Supply Net
  • eTrac 

Support teams began investigating a resolution.

2017/10/03 13:05 - A fix was implemented. Clients who use PeopleSoft Financials to access Travel & Expense Claims and eTrac had their access restored. SupplyNet access was scheduled to be restored last night.
End: 2017/10/04 09:30 - SupplyNet access has been confirmed restored for affected clients. If you are still experiencing difficulty with this IT service, please contact IST at 780-492-9400.

Service Outage: Business Labs B18, B24, and B28 Those using the Business Labs - 2017/10/02 - 23:00

The Business lab gateway that services Business Labs B18, B24, and B28 will be restarted. The affected users may lose network access for a short period of time during the 1/2 hour change window. The service outage is expected to last for 10 minutes.

Outage resolution

2017/09/28 09:10 - Users reported GeoScout Server is inaccessible.  Affected teaching labs are ESB 139, Tory 287 and some research machines.

2017/09/28 09:15  - IST began investigating. Server discovered to be down.
2017/09/28 10:04 - IST worked with the vendor to restore services.
