Start: 2018/07/25 09:40 - IST received reports of a power outage which affected Enterprise Square and the surrounding area. EPCOR began investigating.
2018/07/25 10:50 - Enterprise Square security teams began evacuating the building as EPCOR had advised advised power restoration was estimated to be around 16:00 today.

Start: 2018/07/23 11:45 - Monitoring systems began alerting a large number of IT devices became unavailable affecting a number of IT services.  IST began investigating.
2018/07/23 11:50 - Investigation determined a network device experienced a issue and network traffic failed over to an alternate network device to restore connectivity.
End: 2018/07/23 11:55 - Affected IT services are currently being verified.

Service Change: Course Feedback System University Wide Office of Extension, Support Staff - 2018/07/04 - 10:36

The server that hosts the CourseFeedback System used by the Faculty of Extension will be upgraded. The Office of Extension staff and support staff will be unable to use the Blue Explorance software for the duration of the change. The service outage is expected to last for 4 hours.

A vendor managed Supernet device which connects the Campus Saint-Jean to the North Campus network and the Internet will undergo emergency maintenance. Users at Campus Saint-Jean will not be able to connect to North Campus or the Internet for approximatly ten minutes during the scheduled maintenance window.

Start: 2018/06/20 10:00 - The IST Service Desk phones were unavailable due to a hardware issue. Clients calling into the IST Service Desk during the outage were experiencing a delay in having their phone call answered. IST began investigating.

Start: 2018/06/19 09:50 - Clients began reporting the Bear Tracks application was slow to load or timing out. Support teams escalated the issue to the vendor for investigation and resolution.

Outage resolution

2018/06/15 11:10 - Clients began reporting all PeopleSoft services are unavailable, (FSCM, HCM, Campus Solutions and Bear Tracks). IST escalated to vendor for investigation.
2018/06/15 13:30 - Investigation by the vendor has determined the issue is being caused by a unidentified network issue and there investigation is continuing to find the source of the outage.
2018/06/15 16:00 - Vendor continues their investigation to resolve the issue.

Wireless LAN (Local Area Network) controllers, which manage the University Wireless Service (UWS) and the Guest@ wireless service, will be updated to address recent Google software updates. End users will not be able to use UWS and Guest@UofA to access the Internet during the update. The service outage will be up to 1 hour at anytime during the 3 hour change window. Service Degradation: Andrew File System (AFS) - 2018/06/04 - 12:00

Degradation resolution

Start: 2018/06/04 12:00 - A client reported they were unable to access a home directory on AFS. IST began investigating.
2018/06/04 15:50 - The root cause was identified as a hardware failure in one of the AFS systems and as a result some AFS home directories became unavailable for a small group of clients. The defective hardware was replaced and data restoration began.
2018/06/05 01:10 - The bulk of the data was restored successfully.
2018/06/05 09:40 - Restoration of the missing data was initiated.
