Start: 2018/02/01 11:20 - Clients were reporting the apps.ualberta.ca login was being presented as a Google login page instead of the university single sign-on page. IST began investigating a solution.
2018/02/01 16:30 - A configuration change was made and service was restored. Monitoring began to see if any issues reoccurred.

Start: 2018/01/28 19:25 - Monitoring systems detected that a number of network devices became unavailable in HUB which resulted in a loss of some IT services.
2018/01/28 19:35 - Facilities and Operations confirmed a power outage in HUB and began investigating.

Degradation resolution

Affected Users:  All websites hosted in Sitecore-3 (responsive framework) and their respective visitors that implement forms and/or event submissions; all Sitecore users that participate in workflows.
 
Issue: Sitecore-3 was unable to send email notifications consistently.  The affected services included workflows, forms, and event submissions.  Product Development was working with IST to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.  Due to the issue being intermittent, the system periodically sent email as expected.
 
Resolved as of 13:00 - Product Development reported the issue was resolved by the vendor today at 13:00. Testing confirmed the issue is fixed.

Sitecore-3 is currently unable to send email notifications consistently due to an as-yet unknown issue.  The affected services include workflows, forms, and event submissions.  Product Development is working with IST to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.  Due to the issue being intermittent, the system may periodically send email as expected.

Service Degradation: GSMS Admissions Service Applicants and Applicant Referees - 2018/01/12 - 09:50

Degradation resolution

Start: 2018/01/12 09:30 – IST began investigating reports of a service degradation with the GSMS (Graduate Studies Management Solution) admissions service. Applicants were receiving an error message trying to access or start an online application form and Referees saw an error when trying to access or submit an online reference form.
End: 2018/01/12 20:30 – The issue with the GSMS system was resolved.

The Central Login Service, also known as GPU (General Purpose Unix), will undergo routine maintenance performed by Information Services and Technology (IST).  During the change, users will be unable to reach the server.  The service outage is expected to last 15 minutes.

The content management server that hosts websites for Sitecore 6 also known as "Proshop" will be offline for maintenance.  Users including the Faculty of Engineering, Financial Services and Human Resources will not be able to make changes to web content for up to 2 hours.  Public-facing websites will remain online and operational during the outage.

Outage resolution

Start: 2018/01/03 08:25 - Clients began reporting that wired network connections around north campus were not working. IST support teams began investigating. The University Wireless Service (UWS) is working. 
2018/01/03 08:45 - IST resolved the issue affecting north campus and isolated the incident to affect only the first, second, and third floors of the General Services Building. 
2018/01/03 10:00 - IST continued their investigation to resolve the issue.
2018/01/03 12:00 - IST began working with a third party vendor to investigate and resolve the issue.
