Start: 2018/02/22 14:50 - Monitoring tools began reporting the www.ualberta.ca website became unavailable. University Relations - Digital support teams began investigating.
2018/02/22 15:20 - The root cause of the outage was determined to be an unexpected issue related to a scheduled update to the Sitecore web content management system. Service was restored by reversing the configuration to a previous state. Monitoring began to see if any futher issues were reported.

The change to upgrade the wireless LAN (Local Area Network) controllers, which manage the University Wireless Service (UWS) and the Guest@ wireless service, has been cancelled.   The previously scheduled 1 hour outage to the wireless service has been cancelled.

Emergency maintenance will be performed on the AirWatch CN628 environment, the Mobile Device Management application.  Downtime is expected to be less than 30 minutes.
 
During this time frame, AirWatch users can expect the following:
  • Admin users will not be able to log into the Web Console
  • New device users will not be able to enroll
  • Existing device users will not be able to access the VMware AirWatch® App Catalog or Self Service portal
  • Existing content in VMware AirWatch® Content Locker™ will continue to be accessible, however, new content will not be available

Outage resolution

Start: 2018/02/16 10:10 - Clients began reporting the www.ualberta.ca website became unavailable. University Relations support teams began investigating.
2018/02/16 13:15 - Attempts to restore service failed. The root cause of the outage was still undetermined at this time and investigation continued.
End: 2018/02/16 14:40 - University Relations - Digital identified the issue as a bug in a faculty website which has been taken offline. They will continue to investigate until the root cause is identified and fixed, but all other websites are now reporting online and operational. If you are still experiencing difficulty with this IT service, please contact IST at 780-492-9400.

Degradation resolution

Start: 2018/02/03 15:30 - IST monitoring systems detected the coming expiry of uLearn SSL site certificate.
2018/02/04 15:30 - uLearn SSL site certificate expired, causing the login page to show a Privacy Error message that advises users that the site may be unsafe.
2018/02/04 17:20 - IST support teams continued to work on the issue.
End: 2018/01/28 21:30 - IST renewed the ssl certificate

Service Outage: Universal Student Ratings of Instruction (USRI) website University Wide USRI users - 2018/02/02 - 09:45

Outage change

Universal Student Ratings of Instruction (USRI) website which gathers feedback from classes to help instructors, departments and faculties improve curriculum will not be available.  The CourseEval server will be upgraded.   Users will not be able to access the USRI website for the duration of the change window. The outage will last for approximately 4.5 hours.
