Outage resolution

2017/09/28 09:10 - Users reported GeoScout Server is inaccessible.  Affected teaching labs are ESB 139, Tory 287 and some research machines.

2017/09/28 09:15  - IST began investigating. Server discovered to be down.
2017/09/28 10:04 - IST worked with the vendor to restore services.

Start: 2017/09/26 15:30 – IST began investigating reports of network access outages affecting Windows labs located in Computing Science. The below locations were affected:

Service Outage: Google and CCID Password Changes/Resets - 2017/09/25 - 14:12

Outage resolution

Start: 2017/09/25 13:50 - IST analysts determined that several back end Google API services became unresponsive. As a result CCID password changes, which are dependent on the Google API, stopped functioning for all clients.
2017/09/25 14:00 - Google began investigating the issue.

Service Outage: Several Computer Labs CSC and CAB Students, Instructors - 2017/09/14 - 13:30

Outage resolution

Start: 2017/09/14 12:00 - Students began reporting they were not able to log on to computers at several computer labs in Computing Science Centre(CSC) and Central Academic Building(CAB). Computers that were not restarted worked fine. IST analysts began investigating the cause and fixing the problem.  Locations known to be affected were:

  •     CSC 121
  •     CSC 125
  •     CSC 129
  •     CSC 153
  •     CSC 159
  •     CSC 219
  •     CAB 311

2017/09/14 12:30 - IST analysts identified that the cause was updates from yesterday.  A fix was then rolled out to all computers and analysts worked on fixing computers that had lost network connections.

Outage resolution

Start: 2017/09/12 10:00 - Google reported outages for several services, the issue did impact some clients here at the university. Google confirmed this was a global issue and they began investigating. The services identified by Google as being impacted were as follows:

  • Gmail
  • Google Calendar
  • Google Drive
  • Google Docs
  • Google Sheets

Service Modifier: POSTPONED: Switch Network Upgrade (CSC, ATH, CAB 3-11) - 2017/09/07 - 12:52

Modifier change

PLEASE NOTE:  The change to upgrade switches that provide network connectivity in the Computing Science Centre (CSC), Athabasca Hall (ATH) and CAB 3-11  has been postponed 

 
This work will NOT be starting on Monday, Sept 11 at 20.00. The new schedule will be communicated out once confirmed. 
 

 

Previous Communication that has now been postponed:

Switches that provide network connectivity will be upgraded in Computing Science Centre (CSC), Athabasca Hall (ATH) and CAB 3-11. Affected users may experience a temporary partial building outage where they will be unable to connect to network resources. The service outage is expected to last for several hours. 

The service outage will happen each week day (Monday - Friday) of the change window from 20:00 to 07:00 the next day.

Start: 2017/09/07 08:20 - Some clients reported an error "The server encountered an error, please try again" when trying to access Google Drive. Google confirmed this was a global issue and they began investigating.

Service Modifier: Sitecore Framework Update University All Sitecore Users - 2017/08/30 - 12:00

Modifier change

University Digital Strategy is updating the Sitecore framework to add features and address the issues reported by users.  During this update, Sitecore expects users may experience any one of the following:

  • Broken links on institutional webpages
  • Design flaws (alignment issues) on institutional webpages
  • Inconsistent page content

These are temporary and should only last a short time as our environment is updated.  Should circumstances change in such a way that causes these issues to persist longer than expected, Sitecore will update this notice.
