Service Outage: Email Delay - 2018/10/02 - 10:10

Outage resolution

Start: 2018/10/02 10:10 - IST received reports some emails were being delayed. IST support analysts began investigating.
2018/10/02 10:30 - IST support analysts determined one of the email servers was rejecting emails. The server was removed from rotation and email traffic was redirected to other servers to process the backlog.
End: 2018/10/02 10:45 - Email traffic has resumed. No further issues have been reported. If you are still experiencing difficulty with this IT service, please contact IST at 780-492-9400.

Modifier change

The Network Cat3850 Aggregation Switch Software which is used to manage network traffic through the switches will be upgraded.  Both wired and wireless network services will not be available for up to 30 minutes.  The network service outages will be as per the location schedule, dates and times listed below.

Service Outage: PBX Phones North Campus Some Clients - 2018/10/02 - 08:30

Outage resolution

Start: 2018/10/02 08:30 - IST received reports some PBX (Private Branch Exchange) Nortel telephones located around North Campus were experiencing an issue. The affected clients may not have been able to make or receive calls. IST support analysts began investigating.
2018/10/02 09:05 - IST support analysts engaged a third party vendor for further investigation.
End: 2018/10/02 09:30 - The vendor determined a network card was down and they re-enabled it to restore service. No further issues have been reported and the vendor is monitoring. If you are still experiencing difficulty with this IT service, please contact IST at 780-492-9400.

Modifier change

The switch that provides networking and voice over internet protocol (VoIP) services for the Psychology wing of the Biological Sciences building will be upgraded. Users will be unable to access wired and wireless networks and will be unable to use VoIP telephone services. The service outage is expected to last up to 30 minutes during the change window.

Outage alert

The wireless network connectivity that provides Guest@UofA wireless service in the University's Alberta Health Services locations and for the LRT Platforms servicing the University will be reset to fix a network degradation issue. The Guest@UofA wireless service will not be available for up to 10 minutes between 22:00 and 22:30.

Service Modifier: Single Sign On Services using CCID authentication University Wide Users accessing systems requiring SSO authentication - 2018/09/18 - 12:30

Modifier change

uAlberta Login that provides the Single Sign On Authentication Service (SSO) will undergo a configuration change.  All Campus Computing ID (CCID) account holders will not be able to log into university services requiring CCID authentication.  The service outage will last for up to 10 minutes at any time during the change window.

Modifier change

The AirWatch CN628 environment which hosts the Mobile Device Management application, will be upgraded to 9.7.  
 
During this time frame, AirWatch users can expect the following:
  • Admin users will not be able to log into the Web Console
  • New device users will not be able to enroll
  • Existing device users will not be able to access the VMware AirWatch® App Catalog or Self Service portal
  • Existing content in VMware AirWatch® Content Locker™ will continue to be accessible, however, new content will not be available
