New Support Options at IST Service Desk

We’re introducing new support options at the IST Service Desk in GSB 2-10! To reduce wait times and ensure a dedicated analyst is available when you need assistance, we will be introducing appointment-only hours at the IST Service Desk in addition to our walk-up support hours. Appointment-only hours allow us to match the best analyst to your particular inquiry—ensuring a faster resolution.
 
Beginning in July, support options in GSB 2-10 will change to the following:
 
Appointment Only
8:00am-10:00am
3:00pm-4:00pm
 
Walk-Up Support
10:00am-3:00pm
 
To help you with this transition, we have opened up our schedule so you can start booking appointments now! Some of the issues our staff can help you with include troubleshooting UWS, purchasing software, and setting up university devices.

Note: During appointment-only hours at the IST Service Desk support will still be available through email at ist@ualberta.ca, phone at 780-492-9400, and live chat.
 
Getting Started

To book an appointment, visit ist.ualberta.ca.
Select ‘Book an Appointment’ from the top menu bar.

On this page you’ll see a Google Calendar with available times to ‘Book an appointment’.

Navigate to the specific day you would like to make an appointment. If you are searching for an appointment in the next few weeks, you can see availability in future weeks by clicking on the arrows in the top lefthand corner.

Once you have selected a day and time that works best for you, click on the appointment slot. A window will open asking for additional details for your appointment.
 
In the ‘What’ field, enter a summary of your question or issue.
In the ‘Description’ field, enter a brief description of what you would like assistance with.
 
The ‘Where’ field should not be edited as all appointments will be held in GSB 2-10.

Once your description has been entered, select save.

Saving your appointment will automatically create a calendar invite in your personal Google Calendar.
 
Note: If you are unable to make your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible so the appointment time can be made available to others.
 
To Cancel Your Appointment
 
If you need to cancel your appointment, open the appointment invitation in your personal Google Calendar and click the trash icon.

 

You will be provided the opportunity to send a cancellation to ist@ualberta.ca. Select ‘Send’ to send a cancellation. This will inform our staff if you are unable to make your appointment.
