Google Hangouts was introduced to UAlberta users back in May 2015. Hangouts offers a unified experience for chats, audio calls, and video meetings across all the devices. Whether using Gmail, the Hangouts Chrome app, or on Android/iOS mobile devices, messages will be synchronized and user experience consistent.
On June 26, Google Talk will be replaced with Hangouts. UAlberta users will have started receiving a prompt within Gmail, inviting them to switch to Hangouts. It is recommended to switch now and make full use of Google’s unified service for chat, audio and video communications. After June 26, Google Talk will be replaced with Hangouts and users will be automatically transitioned.
