Matt Ferguson is one of Information Services and Technology’s knowledgeable deskside support analysts who respond to hard drive issues, printer and/or software installations, new computer deployments, and much more. The main difference between Matt and his deskside support colleagues is that his clients are all from IST. Focusing on just IST allows Matt to get to know his co-workers and keeps him very busy—“it’s nice because you get to know people more personally, but you end up getting so many more unofficial tickets [work requests] than actual tickets”.
Matt joined the IT world after completing a Computer Engineering diploma from NAIT. He worked at Future Shop while attending school and for AHS after he graduated. Matt likes working in IT because he enjoys “problem solving”, and he likes working at the University because “there are lots of coffee shops on campus”. Being part of IST enables Matt to put both his IT talents and social skills to good use by supporting the people he works with and then going for coffee with them.
Outside of IST and the University, Matt enjoys playing guitar, designing his own video game, and planning for the real match made in heaven--his upcoming marriage in October to his fiancée, Zosia.
