OUTAGE RESOLUTION: Enterprise Square VoIP Telephones and Internet – 2014/03/11

What happened?
Some ports on a network switch that provide Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone services as well as internet services experienced an issue.

Who was affected?
Some users on the 3rd and 4th floor of Enterprise Square (ESQ) were affected by this outage.

What was the impact?
The affected users were not able to access their VoIP telephones or the internet.

What was the timeline of the incident?
Start: 2014/03/11 07:30 – Users began reporting an issue with VoIP telephones and internet.
2014/03/11 08:00 – IT support analysts began working on the issue.
2014/03/11 08:20 – The issue was identified as a failed power supply. IST analysts were dispatched to replace it.
End: 2014/03/11 08:50 – The power supply was replaced and service was restored. Analysts verified the restoration of service with affected users.
