New Services / Features

February, 2014 Test Scoring Request for Services Forms are now generated using an online application.
January, 2014 Statistical reports for USRI surveys are now available on a personal basis for instructors at https://tsqs.srv.ualberta.ca/cgi-bin/indusri/ind_usri.pl. This site provides access to complete surveys rather than just the data from the GFC mandated questions beginning with year 2008/09. Reports are only available to individual instructors.
September, 2013 The CoursEval package is available for online administration of USRI questionnaires to face-to-face classes subject to policys determined within each Faculty/Department.
September, 2013 Revised versions of Online Services provided by TSQS with new links will be available effective September 30, 2013.
February, 2013 Contents of the .csv files for eClass and Excel data have been modified. The eClass file now includes a column for "First Name" while a column header row has been added to the Excel option to label the contents of each column.
October, 2012 We are trying out a new package for administering online USRI surveys this fall (called CoursEval).  This package will be used instead of Remark Web Survey for GFC's USRI surveys of courses which do not have a face-to-face component.
July, 2012 Access to USRI results on the Web has now been extended so that Deans, Chairs & Directors may request that access to results for employees in their unit be given to designated alternates. An e-mail was sent from University Hall to inform them of the process to do this.
March, 2012 Class lists, including those created by Examtab, now include the sheet number at the beginning of each record to facilitate locating answer sheets for particular students. This information appears in the hard copy of the results (.srt file) as well as in the Excel file. The additional information is not included in the eClass (_w.csv) file.
October, 2011 We have a recording of a 90 minute Webinar session on "How To Design Effective Multiple Choice Tests That Assess Student Learning" which may be viewed by faculty at the University of Alberta until October, 2012. Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you would like to have the link to this recording.
October, 2011 Access to USRI results on the Web has now been extended so that Deans & Chairs may access the results for employees in their unit.
March, 2011 Access to USRI results on the Web was restricted to students in February, 2011. Access has now been extended so that instructors may view their personal results (from 2005 onward). Persons other than students will be directed to a page indicating what years have data available for them. This includes the possibility that they have no identifiable personal results.
March, 2011 We have a recording of a 90 minute Webinar session on "Creating Tests That Assess Higher Order Thinking Skills" which may be viewed by faculty at the University of Alberta until February, 2012. Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you would like to have the link to this recording.
November, 2009 We have acquired a Kodak i1840 high speed document scanner to support more general scanning activities than those accomplished with our optical mark readers. While our focus will be to support the processing of surveys and questionnaires, the machine may also be used for more general document scanning activities.
September, 2008 The Online IDQ Requisition system has been updated to allow ordering of questionnaires that are to be administered via the Web for GFC and EXTN questionnaires. This service should not be used for classes that include face-to-face contact with the students where paper-based questionnaires can be handed out.
October, 2007 We have had inquiries about pre-printing a test-booklet number on the General Purpose Answer sheets in order to more accurately and efficiently code numbers on the answer sheets that will tie them to their respective test booklets. We have implemented a utility to do this for a charge of 0.05 per sheet (in addition to the cost of buying the answer sheets).
October, 2007 We have acquired the Remark Web Survey® system for administering online surveys. In addition to being used for administering online Students' Ratings questionnaires, this package offers significant support for creating and administering more generalized surveys.
September, 2006 We have implemented a facility for submitting IDQ Requisitions Online. This eliminates the need to send us an IDQ Requisition form and allows you to preview the questionnaire that you wish to generate. Access to this facility is restricted to designated individuals: our regular 'IDQ contacts' (and, even then, only after requesting access from This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , ph. 492-2741).
May, 2006 A new service has been added to accommodate the processing of small quantities of forms without the need for special OMR formatting, e.g., questionnaires generated using Microsoft Word or forms designed for OMR machines incompatible with our own.
April, 2006 We are in the process of upgrading our scanners. The new scanners include barcode readers. If you have a need for this feature, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. before designing your form.
February, 2005 Extended the Excel option for generating class listings of scored data to include (1) list of incorrect responses and/or (2) list of scored (R/w) responses as was previously announced for the WebCT files.
December, 2004 Introduced an extra comma-delimited file, *_u.csv, to contain leftover results from the WebCT exercises. This file, when the situation arises, will contain data for students who submitted an examination answer sheet but who were not matched to the classlist from the Registrar.
December, 2004 Provided a utility to split a file containing multiple versions of a test into separate files that may then be processed by the Itemanal program.
June, 2004 General Purpose Answer sheets should now be purchased from the Bookstore.
March, 2004 Added optional fields to the WebCT files to include (1) list of incorrect responses and/or (2) list of scored (R/w) responses.
