Important Legal Issues

It has come to our attention that some clients are purchasing software with University of Alberta indents or credit cards, after which they are reimbursing their departments and taking the software home for personal use.

This practice contravenes the university’s Information Technology Use and Management Policy, which stipulates that licensed software is for university-related purposes only. Such practices make it difficult for us to maintain relationships of trust with software vendors, who provide us with discounts under the umbrella of strict academic usage.

Please cooperate with us in this matter, so that we can continue to offer everyone software at discounted prices. Thank you!
